St Senan's Holy Well

Tobar Sinean is located about 25 metres west of the round tower. Traditionally it is believed an Angel led St Senan to this spot during a drought on the island. Senan rooted his staff in the ground and water sprang forth. The well is associated with a pattern that took place here on the 8th of March, the Saint's feast day. Annually pilgrim's would visit the island to perform the rounds, this included circling the the well on their bare knees. Sadly the day I visited the well was fenced off for safety reasons.
